This is an extra-duty position offered for the 2026 Fall Semester at CHS.  

The director would be responsible for the following: 

  • Preparing the musical numbers for the musical
  • Practicing the musical numbers with the cast and providing practice opportunities for them outside of practice (ex: practice tracks)
  • Choreographing and/or blocking musical numbers (or arranging for someone to do this)
  • Working with the students in the sound booth  

Other expectations include (but are not limited) to the following:

  • Working with the other directors for show selection and casting
  • Attending casting and in charge of the music portion 
  • Selecting of accompaniment that is appropriate for musical (recorded, pit band, etc)
    • Arranging pit band if necessary
  • Attending all practices that focus on the music (as agreed to by all directors- minimum of 2 nights a week starting in August; times vary but usually starts at 3:30pm and can be as late as 8pm)
  • Attending the entirety of all shows and feedback nights,(this includes coming before to help with set up and staying after on the closing show for tear down of sets).  The shows are 3 nights: Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.  They are usually in November and set up starts normally around 5pm, with the final tear down that could take up to 5 hours after show.  
  • Must coordinate and with maintain communication with the other two directors
  • Must be able to maintain professionalism
  • Work closely with CHS students grades 9-12
  • Meeting as a director group once a week to plan/organize
